SPRINGFIELD -- Big changes could be coming for gun owners here in Illinois.

Two new bills are emerging from the Capitol. One calls for a ban on assault weapons, including semi-automatic rifles and pistols. The other for high capacity magazines. It would limit clips to no more than 10 rounds.

Supporters say these weapons are too dangerous, and should only be used by military and police. Critics see if differently. They say these proposals are way too extreme and attack law abiding gun owners.

Governor Quinn supports both measures and says he hopes lawmakers will pass them.

Comments

These weapons are only as dangerous as the person holding them. Also, if you looked at the 2 bills, they encompass much more than "assault" rifles. Absolutely rediculous.

This state has so many crooked politicians, that they are trying to get guns out of peoples hands to protect themselves. The chicago tyranny can't go on forever
