URBANA -- A New Year's baby was born on Tuesday morning.

Elizabeth Giger said she and her husband spent New Year's Eve timing contractions in Philo. But they didn't go to bed after they watched the ball drop. Instead they stayed awake and headed to the hospital around 6 AM. Baby Samantha was born just a little while later. Samantha's due date was January 1 so she was born right on time. She's the third little girl to join their family.
