CHAMPAIGN -- Thursday marks the second day of Kwanzaa. The holiday was created in the 1960's. It's based on seven principles, like faith, unity and creativity. The week-long holiday is a celebration of African heritage.

Kids at the Springer Cultural Center in Champaign learned about it by reading stories and making crafts. Some of the younger kids made a paper chain with the Kwanzaa colors: red, green and black. The older ones made ornaments to put on the Kwanzaa bush, which was actually their old Christmas tree.
