School shooting suspect takes plea deal

Updated: December 18, 2012
NORMAL-- A teen will plead guilty to shooting a gun inside Normal Community High School. It happened back in September.

The 14-year-old agreed to a plea deal that would drop 8 of the charges against him. He'll plead guilty but mentally ill to 8 others.

Police say he brought two guns, a hatchet and a knife to the school. He fired several shots into the ceiling before he was tackled by a teacher.

He'll be sentenced in January.
