An attempted robbery caught on tape

SPRINGFIELD -- A man waited outside a store and then attacked a woman walking to her car. It happened Saturday night, November 10th outside South Grand Avenue Market at 1134 E. South Grand.

The man jumped the woman from behind and hit her in the head with an object. She fell to the ground and they struggled. He eventually pushed her up against her car and he took off. He got away with nothing. The attack was caught on tape by the store's security cameras. Click on the video icon to watch the tape.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20's, 5' 9" tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing dark clothes and hood with a mask over his face. Matt Goulet from Springfield Police said, "He was yelling at her during this assault that he wanted money."
