UPDATE: Wednesday, December 12, 5:52 PM
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- IDOT changed the lettering on a sign that was confusing drivers on I-57. Their road crews fixed it on Wednesday afternoon. IDOT said someone who was unfamiliar with the area installed the sign and didn't catch the mistake.

CHAMPAIGN CO. -- A bit of misdirection had drivers confused along I-57.

WCIA viewer Katie Myers snapped this photo for us. The sign is in the northbound lane near Rantoul. It says Champaign is 60 miles away when it should say Kankakee.

Local I-DOT officials say the sign was made in Springfield, not by someone in Champaign County. It's scheduled to be fixed Tuesday.
