CHAMPAIGN -- Police are helping out a 5-year-old boy in Virginia. His name is Nathan Norman and he was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was two.

His Christmas wish was to get holiday cards from police officers around the country. Lt. Jon Swenson found out about it and decided they could do better than that. The police department is sending him police patches, toy cars and a badge.

"It'd be the same badge we wear and it has his name on it and it certifies him as an honorary Champaign police officer," said Lt. Swenson.

The officers are also collecting a few gifts for Nathan's siblings. They plan to send everything out later this week so it will get there in plenty of time for Christmas.
