CHAMPAIGN-Kids are doing flips over Olympic medalist, Justin Springs' 6th annual gymnastics invitational.

This year the invitational is at the University of Illinois' Huff Hall-- home of Illini gymnastics teams. Competitors say they are excited to use the Illini venue.

Spring says more than 500 gymnasts are preforming and he's happy with how far the program has come.

"I think that that was always kind of the intention. It was a little bit more hoops to jump through to get it in our university building but they did it. And I think the venue is working out nicely. The equipment is already set up, and they'll be there," says Spring.

One of Illinois future freshman is competing in the event and spring says some of the Illini are coming to support him. The Illini are also hosting their men and women's exhibition Sunday at 2pm.
