Man dead after shooting

DECATUR- A Decatur man is dead after a shooting on Waggoner Street.

Around 2:30P.M Decatur Police were dispatched to the 400 block of E. Waggoner St in reference to the sounds of shots fired and a subject injured.

The victim, who will not be identified at this time, was transferred to the hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Detectives were called to the scene and interviewed multiple witnesses. A suspect was identified and is now in custody.

The suspect was located with the assistance of the Decatur Police Department Street Crimes unit and the United States Marshall's Service fugitive apprehension unit Great Lakes division.

This marks the 5th homicide in the City of Decatur this year.
