Police investigate shooting

CHAMPAIGN -- Police are investigating a shooting. Authorities said a man shot a woman around 9:30 PM on Sunday night. 

The shooting happened around the 1000 Block of Church Street. Officers are describing it as a major incident.

The woman crashed her van into a house after being shot. The woman was taken to Carle hospital with undisclosed injuries. She was conscious and breathing when police arrived at the scene. She says she knew the person who shot her.

Authorities are still looking for the shooter and said they do not know whether he still has a weapon. They do not know whether they lived in the neighborhood.

When police got to the scene, the suspect had already fled the scene.

Police said an accident happened after the shooting. There were pieces of broken glass on Church Street that officers were investigating.
