$2 hike on license plate renewals

Updated: December 9, 2012
SPRINGFIELD -- Drivers are going to paying an extra two bucks when they go to renew their license plate stickers this January.

Governor Quinn signed off on the measure this week. Lawmakers passed the bill during Veto Session. Money from the hike will be given to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for upgrades and maintenance. The agency's director says without the funding, they probably would've been forced to shut down some state parks.
