edisonSchool leaders in Champaign say at-home fights, are quickly becoming problem at school. This morning, an eighth grade student at Edison Elementary was kidnapped from the schools front steps. District administrators say the incident started in the victim's neighborhood, and spilled onto school time. The incident happened at around seven this morning, and the boy was found unharmed a half hour later. The victim may have been an easy target because he was at school so early. School leaders say there's no supervision on school grounds until 7:30. Interim Assistant Superintendent Patricia Lewis says at-home scuffles are happening more and more at school. She adds, "There have been many situations where problems have started in the neighborhoods and transfered into the schools. There have been fights at bus stops and fights at schools." She says other than not sending kids to school too early, teachers need to build strong relationships with students so they'll feel comfortable coming forward, before something like this happens again.
