High School Boys Possible Victims of Sexual Abuse

Updated: March 1, 2007
PIATT COUNTY- Two high school boys have been identified as the possible sexual abuse victims of a Piatt County teacher.
Randy DeJaynes was arrested last night at his Forsyth home for aggraevated battery and sexual abuse. He's taught English at Deland-Weldon High School for 7 years.
The Piatt County Sheriff has confirmed two boys as possible victims and says investigators are interviewing several others.
The superintendent Gary Brashear says he knows these situations can shake up a community and they are trying to be there for students as the word gets out.
"We talk to them and work with them with he counseling agencies and try to address their concerns," said Brashear.
Some parents are upset that they haven't heard anything from the school yet but the superintendent says that for legal reasons they cannot release that information.
DeJaynes is on a paid leave. He is scheduled to go in front of a judge tomorrow.
