CHARLESTON -- A child is almost kidnapped while riding her bike after school. It happened Thursday afternoon in the 1000-block of Jefferson Avenue.

There's a vague description of the suspects. As of Thursday no one has been caught. However, if you leave it up to the people who live around there, that it won't take long. People like Chet Campbell, who has been living in the neighborhood for a decade. That's why he makes it his business to know what's happening.

"I like to sit on the porch look things over and check things out. Make sure everything is alright. But I didn't know about this today," says Campbell.

Just a few feet away from his house, a 10-year old was almost abducted.

"I'm really concerned now that this is going on in my neighborhood. I mean its shocking to hear it," says Campbell.

Police say she was riding her bike when a small blue car drove up. Then, both the driver and passenger tried to get her in the car. Ashley Eckley lives next door to Campbell.

"It's terrifying because my baby's are right here and I heard it was right there at the corner," says Eckley.

The suspects are a middle-aged man and woman. The only detail of the car is a dent in one of the doors.

"If they catch the guy, lock him up forever or for however long he's on this earth. Children are too precious to have an animal like that," says Campbell.

The driver is described as a middle-aged white man. He wore a black shirt and blue shorts. The passenger was a middle-aged white woman. She wore an orange long-sleeved shirt and jeans.

If you know anything about this incident call police.
