IROQUOIS COUNTY -- A village clerk is accused of stealing from her own town. Rhonda Sue Siebert worked as a bookkeeper, clerk and collector for Cissna Park.

Police say, during that time, she made off with thousands. She had access to checks, cash and the village's credit card. The Iroquois County State's Attorney says Siebert took more than $100,000 from the town.

The 58-year old was arrested Wednesday. The sheriff's office was asked to investigate in October. The village did an audit and numbers didn't match up.

Siebert resigned from her clerk position. She was fired from the bookkeeper and collector positions. She'd been working for the village since 1993, but officials think the embezzling started in 2006.

Investigators say the stolen money was used to pay for Direct TV, Weight Watchers and even a few vacations. She faces felony theft charges and 15-years in prison if convicted.
