Buses to service YMCA

Updated: December 6, 2012

CHAMPAIGN -- The CU Mass Transit District will be switching its bus routes. It's a long-awaited change for the Champaign County YMCA.

Currently, the closest you can get to the new "Y" is the West Windsor Apartments. So, if you take the bus, you'll also do a little walking.

Starting in January, that will change. CUMTD will offer direct bus service to the YMCA. The board agreed Wednesday.

It comes after Southwest MTD finally decided to disband. Some say the new route will allow much easier access to the "Y."

CUMTD is still working out details of the route. There's transportation from Country Fair Shopping Center. The new route would probably be an extension of that.
