CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Six people were taken to the hospital after a crash Wednesday night. It happened on I-57 north of Champaign just before 10 pm. Drivers and passengers from both vehicles were taken to the hospital.

41-year old Richard Roth was driving in the right lane. When a van pulled out from the shoulder in front of him, police say he rear-ended the van. People from the van were able to get out before it burst into flames.

The driver of the van was cited for failure to yield in merging traffic. Roth is charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured vehicle.
