CHAMPAIGN -- A holiday tradition has families giving back to their community. The Champaign-Urbana Festival of Trees kicked off Friday afternoon. It's happening all weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Businesses donate a tree. All the money raised benefits the Junior League. Families there say it's fun watching their kids marvel at the trees. And for many it's becoming a yearly custom.

"Actually, I was just telling my daughter that when she was born, she was born in November, I brought her in a little Santa dress, and it was the first outing that I took her to and she loved the little trees," said Katrina Widholm of Tolono. "So this is something that I like to take her to every year."
