CHAMPAIGN- Unit 4 Schools are one step closer to finalizing building plans for the future. Thursday the community got a chance to weigh in on district plans.

Parents filled out surveys, sharing ideas on construction projects, curriculum changes and school upgrades. One parent says his main concern is technology and avoiding a tax hike.

"I'm hoping we can find a way where we can not have to continuously increase taxes. Find some other way. The state's not going to be able to pay too much, so hopefully we can find some other way," says Vishal Sachdev.

Earlier this week, the district laid out plans for handling more kindergarten classes next year. Extra students would be spread out among half the district's 11 elementary schools. District leaders hope to finalize the facilities plan early next year.
