CHAMPAIGN -- A man is spreading Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear. Jimmie Rodges has been ringing bells for the Salvation Army for a few years now.

He says the charity helped him when he was homeless and now he wants to give back. Rodges is spending this season singing carols for holiday shoppers.

He says his singing encourages more people to donate to the Red Kettle Campaign. Rodges was filling in Thursday at the Walgreens on Springfield and Mattis. But, you can find him at his usual spot, Sam's Club, on Friday morning and for the rest of the holiday season.
