Student 'hardly studied' for perfect scores
Updated: November 29, 2012
"As you get older, you kind of narrow down your track. You get to take classes that interest you."
For Lakith Govindaiah, those interests are math and science.
"That's probably why I find everything I do, fun."
He's a half-time senior at Central, but also takes classes at UI.
"The only thing I don't like would be probably having to drive to campus because you can't find parking anywhere on campus."
On top of all that, he's active outside class.
"A lot of activities I do are math- and science-focused."
Like Science Olympiad, Math Team and Quiz Bowl; clubs which contributed to his perfect scores, because Govindaiah says he hardly studied.
"I just took the tests over and over again in the practice book."
Now, he has his sights set on MIT.
"With college, I'm just excited to meet all kinds of people who share similar interests with me, so that should be fun; whether to make new friends or for networking."
Govindaiah applied to MIT, University of Chicago and UI. He's still waiting to hear if he's been accepted.
