Collecting food and money on Giving Tuesday

CHAMPAIGN -- A steady stream of people dropped by the WCIA 3 parking lot for Giving Thursday. It was an event for the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.

Some people drove up with pallets full of canned food. Others dropped off checks or cash as they walked past. With $1, the food bank can buy enough for about 3 1/2 meals. That's especially helpful since many of the people the bank helps have to decide between paying for food and housing, medicine or fuel. Even though it was cold outside, people said doing something nice warmed their hearts.
