SAVOY -- It's sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but Small Business Saturday didn't miss out on much this year. Local stores say this year was one of their busiest.

Babyland says it saw between 150 - 200 people Saturday. It's not a huge increase, maybe about 10% or so, but numbers are still up. It's the third year for Small Business Saturdays.

Babyland says it's a good thing more people are taking part. The owner says shoppers usually think of big box stores on Black Friday, so it helps bring attention to local "mom-and-pop" shops.

A big player this year is social media. Several businesses around the area are turning to technology to spread their advertising.
