Black Sunday Shopapalooza

RANTOUL -- We've all heard of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. One sale in Rantoul put both of them together with a little twist.

It was the Black Sunday Shopapalooza at the city's recreation center. The event combined the good deals of Black Friday with the local vendors you'd see on Small Business Saturday. There were crafts, baked goods and other fun gifts for the holidays.

"They are unique because they are handmade," said Janeene Bradley, who organized the event. "Handmade with love, not just something that you slapped into a box and imported from somewhere. It's actually done through the community and the stuff stays in the community."

Bradley said she came up with the idea just three weeks ago. More than 40 vendors came out for the event. She said she hopes to make this a Rantoul tradition and add a spring sale next year as well.
