CHAMPAIGN -- With Thanksgiving weekend behind us, many are looking forward to Christmas. That means picking out the perfect tree to decorate.

Families came to the Country Fair parking lot on Springville Avenue. That's where volunteers from the Champaign-Urbana Optimists Club are having their annual sale. The money they raise goes toward youth programs in the community.

"A lot of families come out here as a tradition," said Connie Minnes, who is one of the Optimists. "They're here because they know that the money benefits the youth in the community, stays in the community. We're all volunteers here. We gladly give our time for the youth."

The Optimists have been doing this fundraiser for more than 40 years. 500 pine and fir trees filled the tent Saturday. Volunteers said it will probably take about two and a half weeks for all of them to be sold.

The tent is open on weekdays from 1 - 8 pm. You can also check it out between 8 am - 8 pm Saturdays or between 11 am - 8 pm Sundays.
