Suspect in crash charged with home invasion

Updated: November 27, 2012
URBANA -- The man who crashed a car into a yard in Champaign was in court. 45-year-old Michael Glover was arraigned Friday.

He faces several charges including home invasion, criminal damage to property, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and eluding police and several counts of stalking.

Glover was arrested Thursday after he and another man crashed a car around Washington Street and Prospect Avenue. The incident started when police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 200 block of West Columbia.

A man was reportedly breaking a window and trying to pull a woman out. When  police arrived, Glover and another man jumped into a car and took off. The State's Attorney said they tried to back over the officer forcing him to shoot at the vehicle's tires. The car crashed in a yard a few blocks away.

Police brought in both Glover and the other man. That man was questioned then let go. But, Glover is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

The State's Attorney's Office says Glover is facing charges in Coles County as well, and the vehicle he crashed had been reported stolen by a dealership there earlier this week. The woman he tried to pull through the window doing fine. According to the State's Attorney, she and Glover had been involved in a relationship.
