CHAMPAIGN -- Police are looking into two overnight robberies near the UI campus. The first happened around 2:00 am on the 400 block of East Healey Street. Police say two victims were walking when a suspect came up behind them.

He demanded money and their phones, then took off running with their stuff. The victims say he had a black handgun.

20 minutes later, another robbery happened nearby on the 600 block of East Clark Street. The suspect again snuck up on two victims, ordered them to the ground, and told them to empty their pockets.

He got their belongings then ran off. The two say he also had a black gun.

Both sets of victims say the suspect was a black man, about 5'4"- 5'7" tall. Both say he was wearing dark clothes with a bandana or scarf over his face.
