CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- A former correctional officer is now on the other side of the law. 33-year old Sara Garrett was arrested Thursday. She's facing several charges.

Garrett had only been working at the county jail five months. Officials say, in September, she let it slip to an inmate that an informant was wearing a recording device. Word got around and that inmate was attacked. Garrett is charged with official misconduct.

She's also facing charges of aggravated battery and mob action for an incident this weekend. The State's Attorney's office says Garrett got in a fight with a man over the phone. She and her boyfriend allegedly went to where the victim was and the boyfriend reportedly punched and kicked the man until he lost consciousness.

Garrett was fired from her position. Officials say they expect to make another arrest in the case. Garrett is being held in Piatt County for her own safety on $100,000 bond for each case. If convicted, she faces five years in prison.
