CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Two shootings happen in the same night in different places.

"They were so loud and close it sounded like it was coming across Bradley," says Barbara Thomas.

One shooting happened in Champaign on Carver Drive, the other in Urbana in the 1500 block of North Romine Street.

It was about 1:30 am when people in the Urbana neighborhood heard shots. That's a sound that several people on the block say is rare around here.

One of those people is Barbara Thomas who has lived here for 45 years. She's right next to the house riddled with bullet holes and was in her family room around watching TV when the shooting happened.

She called police, but officers came back the next morning to further investigate. That's when they showed her a bullet hole that went through the back of her car through the passenger seat and into the door panel. The bullet flattened her tire and barely missed her gas tank.

"I went inside the house and I just cried. I never have known such fear and anxiety. I have never experienced that before ever in my life," says Thomas.

Police haven't reported any injuries, but several homes were hit in the two shootings.

In the Champaign incident, police say the suspect was actually aiming at someone but missed and hit a home. Rene Dunn with CPD says they are investigating these together since they happened in such close proximity, they could be related.
