CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- A new movie about Abraham Lincoln opens around the country this weekend. Local tourism leaders are showing off our 16th President's area connection.

He was a lawyer at the Champaign County Courthouse. Lincoln lost his very first murder trial in that courthouse. That was more than 150 years ago. That's just one connection.

The visitor's bureau is showcasing some of Lincoln's old stomping grounds, including the Cattle Bank near the police station. They hope the movie's release will spark more interest in his history and that people will want to learn more about what he did here.

Tourism leaders say his time in Champaign County also influenced his run for president. You can also find a series of "Looking for Lincoln" signs around town. They have more stories about this past. There are also buggy tours, more exhibits and a lot of other activities. To see all the different exhibits, click on the link below.
