DECATUR -- An elderly woman is dead after rear-ending a school bus. It happened just after 5 pm at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Silas.

Police say the bus was heading east on Lake Shore when it was hit by a truck. One student was on board at the time. Both the student and the driver are OK.

The woman driving the truck died at the scene. Officers spent several hours trying to figure out how it all happened.

"We have the fatal accident investigation team with a total station to create it at a later date," says Sergeant Chris Peters.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
