CHAMPAIGN -- It doesn't feel like Christmas until the bell-ringers are out there. The Champaign Citadel Corps Salvation Army will kick off its Red Kettle Campaign this weekend.

Workers and volunteers are getting ready for the season. That includes an orientation session on Wednesday.

They'll man their posts at 22 locations around Champaign County starting Friday and continuing through Christmas Eve. Organizers said about 20% of their Christmas money comes from the red kettles.

The Salvation Army started something new this year. You can sign up for volunteer bell-ringing shifts online. To find out how, click here.
