ROCKFORD -- The former comptroller of Dixon pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $53 million from the city. Rita Crundwell entered her plea at the federal courthouse Wednesday.

Prosecutors expect her to face 15 - 19 years in prison. Crundwell will remain free until she's sentenced in February.

She has agreed to have her assets sold off to pay back the city. So far, U.S. Marshals recovered about $7 million from auctions.
