Fired employee arrested for stealing bank bag

RANTOUL -- A former employee of a local fast food chain faces charges for allegedly stealing money from the business. 42-year old Douglas Beckett was fired late Monday night from the Long John Silver's in the 700-block of Champaign Avenue.

A manager says the bank bag with a deposit was miss when he arrived for work Tuesday morning. Investigators say surveillance video shows Beckett taking the bag.

He was arrested a short time later at a local motel where he was staying and reportedly told officers he had taken the bag because he was angry. Beckett also allegedly told police the bag still contained the money, although they were unable to find it.
