Council needs to approve property tax levy

URBANA -- Tuesday night, the city council will discuss property taxes. Council members need to approve a property tax levy by next month.

The City Comptroller estimates property values will drop an average of 2%. That means the tax rate is expected to increase 2%. But, on average, homeowners are expected to owe the same amount as last year.
