SPRINGFIELD -- Gas prices around Central Illinois kind of jumped Monday afternoon. Prices in Springfield climbed about $.40 from $3.19/gallon to $3.59.

There's no explanation for the sudden jump, but it was certainly a jolt for drivers. The statewide average for a gallon of regular is $3.47.
