Man accused of shooting pit bull

DECATUR -- A pit bull is recovering after being shot. Police say Nicholas Jones chased the dog down the street while shooting at it. It happened near the corner of Jasper and Cantrall Wednesday afternoon.
Police haven't said why Jones shot at the dog, but animal control reps say, unfortunately, abuse happens too often. The dog survived the attack after being taken to an emergency vet. He's now back home. Jones was arrested on weapons charges.
