DANVILLE -- The Festival of Trees attracted people who wanted to start off the holiday season a little early. The event, which runs until Thursday, features over a hundred trees. Each tree has its own theme.

People can also take pictures with Santa and other holiday goodies are for sale. For many residents, it's a way to ring in the season with their families and a chance to give back to community outreach programs.

"Thought the little one would enjoy coming and seeing all the pretty lights and get our gingerbread cookies," said Leslie Thomason. "We do that every year. We gotta get the gingerbread cookies."

"It's very very important, not only to us at the foundation, but for those who receive the services of those programs throughout the community to support these programs," said Vice President of Provena Foundation Jim Anderson.

The event helps fund 6 programs and features a parade on Thursday. For more information click here.
