UI honors vets

CHAMPAIGN -- Thousands came out to support the orange plus the red, white and blue Saturday. If you were tailgating at UI, you saw a lot of it. American flags were all over campus.

All to celebrate our veterans. We met a few who say it's great to see so much appreciation.

"I think it's wonderful. The time that we were in the service was during Vietnam and no one was supporting you then," said veteran John Palmisano.

"I'm always going to be a veteran," Bob Graham said.

The first 10,000 people at the game got an American flag and Illinoisans currently serving got video shout-outs during the game.
