Social Security offices get shorter hours

Updated: November 9, 2012

CHAMPAIGN -- Budget cuts are now limiting the hours you can talk about social security. Starting November 19, offices will close thirty minutes earlier than usual.

Employees will still work the same hours, but face to face interview time will be cut short. It's to keep workers from getting overtime.

The Social Security Administration says less funding makes it impossible to pay for those extra hours. Starting next year, offices will close at noon on Wednesdays.
