CHAMPAIGN -- The Unit 4 School Board has a new person in charge. Stig Lanesskog was voted in as president at Monday's meeting.

The change happened after former president Sue Grey decided to step down. She was chosen to be the CEO of the United Way of Champaign County last week.

Grey felt it was in the best interest of both organizations for her to resign, but she did get emotional during her announcement Monday.

"I really, really enjoy this work, I do. And being able to lead this group of people has truly been an honor," she said.

"I have not found anyone who's more passionate about this community and the work that she does both in her professional life and in her personal life than Sue Grey," said Lanesskog. "To see her emotional is not a surprise because she's put everything she's got into it."

Lanesskog will be the president until next April's election. He was the vice-president until Monday's change. Member Dave Tomlinson will take his place.
