CHAMPAIGN -- People all over the county are turning on green lights. It's all part of the 5th Annual Green Light Project to support National Runaway Prevention Month.

It focuses on the nearly million homeless youth in the U.S. who are runaways. Community Elements and other organizations handed out green lights Saturday and asked people to replace their porch lights with it, all to raise awareness in a bright way.

"I think it helps people to know that there's people out there that care. That they're willing to recognize that there are issues, not just turn their head and ignore the fact that there are issues here," Lisa Benson said.

Community Elements offers services for runaway and homeless youth in Champaign County.
