CHAMPAIGN -- A national jobs report came out Friday, the last one before voters head to the polls. It shows the economy added 171,000 jobs.

But the unemployment rate crept up to 7.9%. Jobs was one of the topics the 13th Congressional candidates talked about during a debate Thursday night.

Democrat David Gill, republican Rodney Davis and independent John Hartman are the candidates. Each had his own solution to create more jobs.

"I've found solutions in a bi-partisan way to many important issues facing Central Illinois and I plan to take this experience upon getting in Washington and be a leader upon getting to D.C," said Rodney Davis.

"I think we need to overhaul those trade agreements NAFTA and CAFTA. Terrible for the working men and women of this district," said David Gill.

"Lets not be cynical. Democracy is a system that allows rebirth leaders need to emerge and the voters need to support them so we can make changes," said John Hartman.

If you missed Thursday night's debate on WCIX, it re-airs Sunday on WCIA after the 10 pm news.
