DECATUR -- Millikin University students are on high alert after two armed robberies near campus. WCIA-3's Ashley Michels has the story.

It's business as usual on campus Friday, but the school and police are stepping up security after a late night Halloween scare. A student was walking across an intersection when three masked men pulled out a box cutter and demanded cash.

Ten minutes later, the same thing happened to another student, just one block south. School officials say they're beefing up patrols on campus, but can't control what happens out there.

"The reality is we are part of society and we are an open campus. We do have multiple streets and public ways that go through the campus, so we can't isolate ourselves from the societal concerns."

Police say they're searching for three black men in their late teens to early 20's. They all had their faces covered. Police are taking over the investigation and treating both incidents as if they are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
