SHELBY COUNTY -- One person was killed when his vehicle was hit by another. It happened about 6:30 pm near the intersection of IL Rte. 16 and Shelby County Road 2200 East.

43-year old Mark Reedy, of Shelbyville, died after being thrown from his vehicle when it spun out of control and overturned. Authorities say Reedy was not wearing a seat belt.

Police say the rear driver's side tire was hit by a vehicle driven by 46-year old Robert Smithson, also of Shelbyville. Officials say Smithson had stopped at a stop sign, but then proceeded into the intersection hitting the back of Reedy's vehicle.

He and his two passengers were not hurt. Smithson has been charged with failure to yield at an intersection.
