Restaurants Found Serving High Calorie Foods

Updated: February 26, 2007
eatingYou could be consuming more than five-thousand calories by eating dinner at one of your favorite restaurants. That's according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, which says some popular restaurant chains like Ruby Tuesday's, Chicago Pizzeria Uno, and the Cheesecake Factory offer two-thousand-calorie appetizers, two-thousand-calorie main courses, and another 15-hundred calorie dessert. The CSPI says consumers are clueless that they might be getting an entire day's worth of fat and calories in one dish, or several days' worth in an entire meal. The group's "X-Treme Eating" list of worst foods include Ruby Tuesday's "Colossal Burger" which weighs in at 19-hundred calories and 141 grams of fat. Also making the list was Cheesecake Factory's "Chris' Outrageous Chocolate Cake" topping the scale at nearly 14-hundred calories. The group's "X-Treme Eating" list appears in the March issue of CSPI's Nutrition Action Healthletter.
