Science Olympiad

Updated: February 27, 2007
Some kids in Urbana are getting serious about science. Students at Urbana Middle School are gearing up for this weekend's Regional Science Olympiad, in hopes of advancing to the state competition. Students will compete in 23 different events at the school ranging from oceanography to the solar system. Some of their designs include a vehicle powered by rubberbands, and a wheel propelled by marbles. In all, nine middle schools and four high schools will compete in the olympiad. Winners advance to the state competition at the U of I in April.
