CHARLESTON -- A new report took a look at the number of low-income students in the school district. It also considered how it affected graduation rates.

The percentage of low-income students is at an all-time high. Typically it's linked to lower-achieving  students. But, that's not the case for the high school. It's graduation rate is nearly 88%; 5% above the state average.

District leaders say it means teachers are doing something right. This "report card" also lets school officials what they're working with. They now know there's a growing number of needy students, so they can focus on making sure those kids get everything they need.

The numbers help with it comes to training staff as well. The district has a variety of programs geared toward helping at-risk students. More information means they'll be better prepared if those programs need tweaking.
