URBANA -- A man who pleaded guilty to child abduction is sentenced to 30-months probation. Ricky Smith admitted trying to lure a child into his SUV in August.

He was arrested after offering $20 to a 12-year old girl to get into his vehicle. The girl was walking near Hickory and Bellefontaine streets.

She ran and told her mother who called police. Smith must also undergo a sex offender evaluation. He'll be back in court in December.
