10/25-Illini stumble in Madison, 27-17

Final Score: Wisconsin 27, Illinois 17 Madison, WI (Sports Network) - Dustin Sherer threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Wisconsin Badgers to a 27-17 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in Big Ten action at Camp Randall Stadium. Sherer also scored a rushing touchdown for Wisconsin (4-4, 1-4 BigTen), while David Gilreath caught three passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Juice Williams threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns for Illinois (4-4, 2-3), but the quarterback also tossed three interceptions and was sacked twice. The only points scored in the first quarter came off the foot of Philip Welch, as the Wisconsin kicker nailed a 40-yard field goal midway through the frame. Seconds into the second stanza the Fighting Illini got on the scoreboard with a two-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Zach Becker. The Badgers regained the lead with a 15-yard touchdown run by Sherer. However, Illinois instantly answered back, as Matt Eller booted a 47-yard field goal, sending the game into intermission with a 10-10 tie. Illinois struck first in the second half, as Williams found A. J. Jenkins with a 14-yard scoring strike. The Badgers continued to fight however, as Sherer hit David Gilreath with a 49-yard touchdown pass midway through the quarter. The Badgers dominated the fourth quarter, as Welch connected on a 38-yard field goal, which was followed by an eight-yard touchdown pass from Sherer to Gilreath.
